Easy-to-Grow Houseplants

If you weren’t blessed with a green thumb, you may think that houseplants are best left at someone else’s home. However, there are a number of easy-to grow plant varieties that require minimal care and can make a great accent peice in your home.

First, consider bringing a Dieffenbachia plant, also known as Dumb Cane, into your home. This is a common plant that can grow up to six feet tall and looks great in an empty corner of your home. This plant prefer low to medium light and requires minimal care. However, you may want to avoid this plant if you have small children or pets because it can be poisonous if ingested.

Another great houseplant option is a Philodendron. This is great choice for women who forget to water their plants because it should dry out between waterings. It can handle many different types of light and looks great above cabinets or on shelves.

A Spider Plant is one of the most popular types of houseplants and is perfect for a hanging basket. This plant has thin, long leaves that with green and white stripes that hang down, and it is easily recognized by the baby plants it produces. It does best with soil that is kept moist.

Next, a Rubber Tree is a tall, woody plant with large green leaves that looks great in your home or office. This plant can also do well outdoors if it is planted in a frost-free location. It should be be allowed to dry out between waterings and it prefers medium to bright light.

Finally, a Cast Iron plant is a great choice for a beginner because it can tolerate many different temperatures and does not need much light. It has long, stalk-like leaves that can be green, yellow, white or a variation of these colors. The soil should be kept moist but not wet.
